Hi Delights! I need you all to talk me off of/away from the ledge. While it's only been one month in GA, I'm just not feeling the culture of the people. And I REALLY need to like the people in place in order to thrive & survive. Maybe it's just the folks I work among, but I really believe that GA is still (and probably always will be) a very racist state. And everyone's racist! That's the kicker. Okay, not EVERYONE, but the black people I work with make just as many anti-white comments as the white people making anti-anybody comments. Freakin' bonkers! The realist in me knows that I've got to give this place some time, go out and meet tons of non-Georgian's, & do my job to the best of my ability. Although, my supervisor and her non-supervising self is setting me up for failure. Not on purpose, but that doesn't matter at the end of the week when her boss is asking me questions about stuff I should know. :-\ Super frustrating. Either way, I do not tolerate bigotry and racism well. A lady told me the other day that homosexuality is an "abomination of the lord!" WTHades?!?! Ugh! Help me, Divas! Rub the belly of my gay Buddha statue and conjure me up some assistance. :-)
Anyhoo, I had a decent walk today with the MeetUp folks. Only 2 ladies showed up, one of which was really friendly & chatty. The other, the group coordinator, seems to be nice, but was preoccupied with her sick dog, Belle. I'll stroll again with them on Tuesday perhaps & see if the interaction is better. Meanwhile, I'll heavily consider what my next move should be - if any. I miss speaking with intelligent folks on a regular basis. Thankfully, the 2 walkers today have very good sense. And seem non-judgmental. Of course, neither of them are from here!
Ms. Awesome, good luck on your 1st run tomorrow. And remember, it's always painful to run in such a high elevation, but once you can... You're un-catchable! TAPS, here's to acting opportunities and some meaningful part-time work. Annette, you're being the best mommy that you can be. Keep on pushin'!
Happy Sunday Delights!

I can understand how that can be frustrating, that's how I felt in DFW. I also have a co-worker here, that got mad after an anti-discrimination workshop that said he shouldn't have to be nice to gay people because they're wrong. :/ People are ignorant. Wish it wasn't like that for you. i hope you'll get out and meet some fabulous people that make these instances rare! Maybe look on an alumni page for something, or get involved with a group.
Chin up girl! They can't ALL be like this.
