Thanks TAPS!

TAPS, I truly appreciate your inspiring posts from yesterday & loved the anecdote about Adjei's growing phases. We've all been there & will be there again. We're growing every day, even if we don't notice it in ourselves. I have thoroughly enjoyed blogging. (Yea...I know you all can tell.) And I plan to continue for the remainder of the year. Heck...maybe even beyond this year & with a new focus. I'm still hanging in the mid-140's for weight. Down 20lbs since we begun this healthy journey. More important than losing the 20lbs has been the process of not quitting and feeling SO much better overall. I also feel a connection to each of you that I would not have gotten by casual encounters here and there. I'm truly looking forward to hanging with Ms. Awesome & Magic in a few weeks, seeing TAPS this fall, & meeting a couple of you other FT'ers in person. Thanks, thanks, thanks for reading my madness every day & offering wonderful advice, suggestions, and comedic relief.

♠  Make a salad

Nothin' ... Absolutely Nothin'

Howdy Delights!
I truly have nothing to report and no real complaints. My shins survive another day. :) The spa was great & just what my body needed. No fitness for yesterday, so I will be on that today prior to delivering my MOW's. I did review a few things in my Linux book & researched the Occupational Therapist requirements. Two friends informed me of various job openings, so perhaps I'm on my way to a happy change. We'll see.

For today, I'll walk & do push ups & sit ups; deliver the meals with a smile; and diet well. I booked a trip to the east coast for the 2nd week of October. TAPS...look out!

Enjoy the day Divas!

Never Ending List

Good Morning Divas!
Why is it that my lists of "Want to Do" & "Priorities Above Other Priorities" seems to never end? I really need to work on focusing & completion. I keep making lists and not seeming to get very far with them. Ideas? Suggestions? Am I a lost cause? Could it be? Naw... I refuse to believe that. I think I am trying to do and be too much all at once. So... the enlightenment search begins/continues/alludes. Sitting still for several minutes per day will help. Wish me luck, ladies.

On the quest to do less, today I will:

* Be still & meditate for a few minutes
* Research one occupation on my "Maybe I Can Do This" list
* Dedicate 10-15 minutes to learning the Linux operating system
*** Thoroughly enjoy SPA DAY! ***

Enjoy the day Delights!

Thanks!

Divas, thanks for all the birthday greetings. It was a wonderful day. Good food, great folks, and pounds of chuckles. The celebrating continues all week. Feel free to get in on this. I'll squeeze you in. :) Today, I'm tired. But I did go for a walk & twist my fro this morning. There were no schizo's on the trail this morning & all was safe and dandy. CC must only come out late a.m.'s.

Today's goal is to get my piggies done & diet.

Fancy Feelin'... For Now!

Good Morning Delights!

I am thoroughly enjoying my Life Anniversary Celebrations. With one minor exception. Roll back to about 18 hours ago when out on my daily stroll. Only change was that it was later in the day & I had a different walkin' buddy with me. Said walking buddy is super friendly & gave just about everyone we passed the greeting of the day: "Good Morning!" As we came upon (from behind) a guy who is barely moving at a shuffles pace and whose head was lowered, she cheerfully gave her greeting. Yes, to the back of this fella's noggin. We passed him & he starts cursing! "Fucking bitch! Shut your fucking mouth!" And some other pretty epithets. All in a Malachi from "Children of the Corn" voice. Now we're speed walking at a rate that would give Oprah trouble. Trying to get distance between us and Cursing Cujo! We get to the end of the trail where we'd usually turn around and start heading back toward the parking area, but we continued up a ramp & were beyond thrilled to see a couple of bikers heading down. We decide to follow the bikers until we get past CC, whom at this point had turned around & started shuffling in the direction we were headed. Planned failed as CC was still mumbling profanity & scared the bikers in to pedalling away quickly. Left alone, we begin a very slow saunter behind CC. He keeps looking back over his shoulder (to check our distance), mumbling the same profanities, and stopping on occasion to feel for something in his back pocket (a shank perhaps?). My friendly friend and I are kinda flippin' out & trying to conjure up our battle plan. We take a seat on some giant boulders and watch CC shuffle to about 50 feet in front of us. Finally, a couple with 3 dogs stroll by & we get in step right behind them. Wouldn't ya know that CC turned on that Malachi voice again as we damned near sprinted past him. Just cursin' like nobody's business. He scared the couple and their dogs. Freakin' bananas! There's a few other scenes in this story, but you're probably already bored. Just want to add that I NEVER sweat while I do this walk. Today, I was grossly dripping in/from my natural salt water. Granted, it was later & warmer in the day than I usually walk, but damn! CC had my heart & leg movement pace up to an all time high. A carafe of sangria helped the cool down process. Finito.

Today, the birthday shenanigans continue. I'll have breakfast with a friend or 2 & possibly grab a manicure. And I think I'll get myself a pretty bra & panty set. When you're top heavy, the bras are kinda bland and boring. Boo hiss! Then tonight is a big dinner party with my local Support System. Love these ladies!

Thanks for listening. Enjoy the day Divas!

New York Rules!

Morning Delights & Welcome to the Weekend!
Nothing too interesting to blog. Just ready to be off for a couple of nights. Maybe 3 as I plan on contracting the Hanta Virus, a brown recluse bite, Ebola, and an allergic reaction to the letter "k" on my keyboard. All on Monday so I don't have to come in on Monday night. I just feel the need to be off 3 consecutive nights, but we'll see how that goes come weekend close-out. TAPS, sorry you're not feeling well. I hope I didn't pre-expose you to anything. Wishing you a happier immune system so you can Zumba it out today. I've concluded that I need a kick to the shin each time I complain. Who wants to volunteer to be my personal shin kicker? The work is pro bono and the only benefit is the happiness you'll feel post kick. Get in on this! These shins won't last long.

Yesterday, I got the care package in the mail; a couple of tees from Old Navy (I'm no loger in size L, but M's. However, I did not know this until I got the tees home. Boo hiss!); walked & did push ups but no ab work; and went to bed on time. Decent day I must say. It was GREAT to wake up to see NY kicked political/civil rights ass. WhootWhoot!

Today's Objectives:
♣  Birthday Breakfast w/ a fellow Duke City'er
♣  A little bit of dieting so I can go see a friend of mine rock the mic tonight
♣  Walk
♣  Avoid shin kicks
♣  Be merry!

In Need of a Break!

Good Morning Divas!
Didn't have the most productive day yesterday, but I did accomplish my fitness goals. Everything else kinda got thrown to the wind, with the exception of lunch with former work spouse. I chose Dairy Queen & gobbled up all of my non-nutritious contents. Spent a few minutes meditating, just to come to work and look at some bullshitass email from my supervisor. Maybe when I come back to work tonight, I'll begin the job search. Looking and applying for jobs is a full time job in itself. I gotta be dedicated, but right now... I'm just tired. I did make a list of jobs I think I'd be good at & wouldn't mind pursuing. For now, I'll be reading my funny book for the next hour or so before all my fellas awaken. Thanks for listening to my madness ladies. The witty me will return soon. :)

Objectives of the Day:
♀  Walk, push ups, abs
♀  Mail the care package for real!
♀  Get to Old Navy for their tank top sale
♀  Enjoy the day & sit still (at some point)

Better, but still uncertain

Good Morning Delights!
I took quite a bit of time to be still yesterday & journaled. I concluded that it's fine for me to want to be, do, and wonder about a lot of things. For now, I am responsible to and for me only. If I choose to go back to school to learn hair weaving or cow milking, then I can. My decisions don't really impact anyone other than myself! I have always been a free spirit and did what felt right at the time. I'll be honest and say that some decisions were not the best, but hey... I worked them out. I'm a contributing, responsible citizen now.Yep, I had my days of thieving and being shady, but they're in the past. Yall can decide the distance. :) Anyhoo, today or tomorrow, I'll jot down some professions that I can realistically see myself doing and some places I can feel myself living. I'll let yall know how it goes. By the by, I eat 2 squares of cookie dough per day. I figure it has nutritious contents and it makes me happy. Finito.

Goals of the Day:
♣  Mail the care package
♣  Walk, abs, arms (I did none of this yesterday)
♣  Pre-birthday lunch w/ former work spouse
♣  Catch up on The Daily Show
♣  Make appt to get my fro braided or something
♣  Enjoy the sun!

Still & Steady

Good Morning Delights!
TAPS, I loved your post from yesterday! Act.Act.Act. Happiness is in those triggers, sister! Give Danny a big hug of thanks from all of us. He not only inspired you, but all of us FT'ers, tambien. I know that I need to be still so I can be steady as I process goals, fears, accomplishments, and just the plain ol' present. As you probably all can tell (read), I have no idea of what I want to do in life. Or maybe I have tons of ideas and not enough time. I've always wanted to work at the post office, a gas station, as a flight attendant, counselor, motivational speaker, and 33 other gigs. See where I'm going? Hope so. `Cause I don't. What I do know is that I will take time to be still & just listen to my intuition. I plan to dedicate 10 - 15 minutes of "still" time per day. And, yes, you all will need to remind me. I'll forget that I'm actually supposed to be doing nothing & that it's fine. Thanks.

Otherwise, the day was very productive. I accomplished a whole lot & will tread lightly today. In addition to world domination yesterday, I bought a damned expensive plane ticket to ABQ for the reunion. Ms. Awesome, bring your clear heels & we'll work to recoup some of our funds. Central & Louisiana are calling for us. ;)  Oh, I also decided that my fall foliage tour will take me a little off track. My friend will return from Afghanistan (maybe she's in Iraq...I forgot) the 1st or 2nd week of October. She's stationed in Upstate NY. So, guess where I'm headed! I'll still go to NYC to see TAPS and my beau, J.Stew. Hooray!

Bouncing Back

Good Morning Delights!
I dieted quite well yesterday & am ready to get my groove back like Stella. My spa day is scheduled for next Tuesday & I just can't wait to get a salt scrub, wrapped up, rinsed off, and a facial. It's the best part of my birthday every year! It'll help me bounce back to productivity. I'm in the beginning phases of planning a trip to Greece for next May. The Hawaiian Samoans were too large for my suitcase, but I hope the Greek men are a tad smaller & not all hung up on being kidnapped and transported overseas. Wish me luck. :)

I'm also planning on visiting the east coast in early October to see some fall action. TAPS, look for me! Additionally, my head is still swirling with ideas concerning my life's direction. I probably need to sit still and meditate. I need some calm time to focus on my wants: for now, tomorrow, and the next decade. In the meantime, I've got a lot to do:

♣  Clean my place
♣  Care package stuff for my deployed friends
♣  Recycle & donate items
♣  53 other errands (i.e.: cleaning my car, having spare keys made, job searching, returning messages, etc...)
♣  Walk, abs & arms
♣  Stay happy & relatively healthy (Ms. Awesome, send me something great from your planting adventures!)

Movement is MY Thing!

Howdy Divas!
Sorry I missed yesterday. Good time in Houston. Seeing college & high school buddies was a grand time. I didn't eat a whole lot, but I also did no fitness activity. Tomorrow I'll resume greatness. Today, I'm tired! The only goal I really have for the day is dieting. If I somehow get my dishes washed, that'll be grand.

Huge SHOUT OUTS to all of you for setting, planning, and achieving goals, building stronger relationships, and becoming even more wonderful women all around. Can't wait to chop it up over tasty spirits with you all.

Hope the day is treating you all in a royal manner! Cheers!

Counting Chicken Salad

Howdy Divas,
I didn't eat a traditional salad yesterday, but I did enjoy a chicken salad sandwich from Chic-Fil-A. I love me some Chic, lemme tell ya. I also didn't call the nurse like I said I would. Maybe today or tomorrow. TAPS, I saw that you suggested taking her food, but she's got like 5 kids. And the last time I saw her, she asked for diapers, so maybe I'll just stick with that. I feel bad that our staff didn't organize a baby shower for her, although Ms. Funky Middle said she would. I told her I wouldn't be around for the shower (it was supposed to take place when I was in ABQ) but would be happy to contribute. Turns out, nothing was done for this woman. Boo hiss to my team (I'm including myself)! I could go on and on about how my supervisor should've organized something, but she's working all the good nerves in my body so I'll just end the madness there & try to remain positive. +++++++++++++++ There ya go...all positives! And this is a good sign because we're not at a clinic getting a dreaded S.T.I. test. Indeed, there are times in our lives that we want to see the minus (-) sign.   :-)  My gal pal is gonna twist my `fro on Sunday if I don't wind up in Houston. And I walked, did ab work, and push ups.

Anyhoo, June has been challenging as far as maintaining healthy eating. Everyone wants to get together for a meal out & it's hard for me to decline a great dining experience. Especially if it's breakfast. Plus, it's my birth month & I go grande with eating out. STOP ME DIVAS! I'm still eating smaller portions most of the time and always leave food on my plate/in my bowl. I might actually have to jog a few times in the next couple of weeks. YIKES!  I'm sleepy. Can ya  tell? I've been getting only 6 hours of sleep per day for the last week. Makes Carmen's Chaos more extreme!

Today's Objectives:
♣  Some sort of fitness
♣  Schedule my massage. For real. I'm doing it today.
♣  Read more of my hilarious book
♣  Reserve tickets to see my nephew in the Shakespeare Festival next month
♣  DIET well

Enjoy the day and the weekend Delights!

Jazz Star!

Good Morning Delights!
Yesterday, I accomplished so much I feel like a jazz star. The accomplishments weren't too major, so rock star status will remain on the shelf for a bit. However, soon enough... You can call me Mrs. Lenny Kravitz! Or Mrs. Lenny if you're nasty. :)  Walked, mailed stuff, washed my dishes, kinda straightened my dining table, had a great lunch, organized my birthday party (yea, I did it!), and even bathed. I'm so Mrs. Boney James it ain't even funny! I'm even growing his same hairstyle...eventually.

Still trying to figure out how to tell the nurse with the funky middle that she needs to be checked out. She recently had surgery, somebody HAD to smell that & it should've been addressed. DamnitJim! I know I'd want someone to tell me, so I'll figure this out soon enough. By the by, I realized last week that I've not yet heard back from the social work program, which means I maybe didn't make the cut & I'm okay with that. I'm kinda in to this hanging out-go-with-the-flow thing. That brings me to...

Today's Objectives:
♣ Walk & ab work
♣ Call the nurse who recently had a baby & see if she needs anything
♣ Shop airline tickets AGAIN! Cross your fingers that I get a better deal.
♣ Eat a salad
♣ Find someone to braid or twist my `fro
♣ Stay jazzy!

Wobbling

Greetings Divas!
I actually didn't mind delivering M.O.W. yesterday. All of my folks seemed pretty nice and there was only one creepy fella. He just leaves his door cracked (I guess?) for folks to come in and drop off whatever. He kinda wheeled out of his (maybe?) bedroom to say, "Just put it right there [on his sofa]!" and smelled like every combination of nicotine-tar-tobacco-dirty shirt. I'm going to LOVE these deliveries! :)  Overall, the folks were thankful and at least 3-out-of-17 looked the opposite of unkempt. This was a much better experience than at the Fisher House, where I just organized groceries for 2 hours. Not really my thing. I mean, I know they need folks to do that sort of work, but it really ain't for me. I may just stick with M.O.W. and bequeath the shelving of canned goods to some other helpful soul.

TAPS, congrats on rockin' out yesterday. And thanks for re-introducing us to our priorities. Just what I needed to get my mind in motion with 3,336 thoughts of who I want to be. By the by, I think I'll be in your hood this October to catch a viewing of my beau's (J.Stew) show. Ms. Awesome, will you be upstate by then? I'd love to see you both & maybe Alisa & Gallant & Nichole. That's if I don't throw in the towel with this job & have to start over some place else. Okay, okay. I think I can hang in there until the end of the year or through the first quarter of 2012. I need to... for vacation day's sake. What am I talking about here??? Sorry gals. Onward to the day's goals:

♀  Not eat too many cherries. I think I just made myself sick by gobbling about 20 of them.

We've Got The Funk!

Divas,
It appears that we're all in some sort of eating/fitness/blogging funk. Bring out the heavy duty body wash. We need to cleanse ourselves and get back to business. Yesterday, I did nada! I was just damned tired. No walking. No errands. Nada. And I didn't diet well, either. Maybe I'm a little nervous about starting Meals on Wheels today, which I'm sure will be fine once I get going. Aaagh. CALGON!!! Where art thou? Anyhoo, we all need to shimmy in to our rightful places and get back to moving, tracking, and following through. If I weren't using a gub-mint computer to blog this, I'd find us an appropriate YouTube video. Now, you have to just pretend that I found something fabulous for each of us & sing it all day long.

Today's Objectives:
♣ Walk a little
♣ Give it the best that I got as I deliver meals to those in need
♣ DIET

Random Thoughts on the Loose!

Good Morning Divas!
It's my 1st night/morning back at work and it's dragging like old man ass. I fee like I've already done my eight hours and they need to release me to my sheets. STAT! I just finished reading one of the many Top 10 [fill in the blank] Yahoo articles (I always get sucked in to these). This one was about the best places to start over. While sauntering about Hawaii, I came to realize that I want to live somewhere slower-paced and a lot more relaxed and a tad smaller. Of the 10 places listed in the Yahoo piece, only two seemed do-able for me because I don't really like to be cold/cool most of the year. Little Rock is on the list & I've thought about that place off and on for nearly 2 decades. The other place was Scranton, PA. And that just seems appealing because of "The Office." But I bet it's cold/cool there most of the year. Back to Arkansas my mind returns. At least I know I'll be able to get my hair done if necessary. These are the things I have to consider when I think of relocating. Germany was rough on a sista. Good thing my friends knew how to do hair a wee bit. Although I will not be in a position to move for at least another year or 2, I may start researching and collecting information about Arkansas and other quaint places. I'll keep ya posted. Unless I forget to, which is highly likely.  :-)

In addition to the items on the list from yesterday, I also have 1.5 weeks of The Daily Show to watch; jobs to research; and 33 other things that I cannot think of at the moment. But the thought of thinking is making me tired. Four more hours to go! I can do this, right?!?! Sure. Why not? Ugh...I want to go home! Hope all is dandy for you all. And thanks for attempting to follow the chaos of my noggin. Yikes!

Enjoy the day!

Lopsided Choices

Good Morning Peeps!
Yesterday was pretty productive, I think. Maybe not. A whole lotta chit chatting over migas. Delightful and delicious. However, I did get my suitcase scrubbed & some laundry done & some other stuff I'm sure. I walked and did ab work. Yep. Sure did. This morning I returned to my regular stroll & then went grocery shopping. Unfortunately, I was a wee bit hungry when I was aisle strolling and this is where lopsided choices were made. Nestle Chocolate Chip & Walnut cookie dough (did yall know it says right on the package not to consume raw cookie dough??? Who the hell has time to bake them in this heat and all?) , a couple boxes of Cranberry Almond Crunch, fruit, veggies, bread, etc... I've already consumed 2 squares of the the goodness. I'm sleepy & don't want to do much else today.

My Objectives for the next couple of days:
= Get back to my normal sleep schedule
= Mail off souvenirs
= Oil change & wash SinnABurst
= Shop for airline tickets to ABQ & DC
= Schedule a massage
= Do something to my mane. It's wild!

Right Place, Wrong Time

Hola Glory's!
Got nada accomplished yesterday, so my Objectives remain the same. However, I've already strolled and did ab work this morning, so at least I'm a tad better off than yesterday. My sweaty b.o. is proof of this. Or proof that I need a new antiperspirant. My dieting schedule is all off & I'm just sleeping at normal-folk hours. Heading back to work tomorrow night will be interesting. And I'm OFF! Time to de-funk before a wonderful gathering of people over equally wonderful food items. And I swear I'll knock out at least 3 Objectives.

Enjoy the day Divas!
